A Question For Dad

A Question For Dad

On my way back from the North Shore, I stopped to take photos.  As I walked the beach, my path crossed that of a family's.  We said hi.  The father asked If I could take their photo.

As he started to hand me his cell phone, I said, "Why don't I take it with a real camera?'

Afterwards, as we stood talking, two of the boys seemed fascinated with the water.  Soon one turned to the father and with a quizzical look on his face asked, "How can there be waves when there is no wind?"

I thought it was a rather remarkable question from one so young. The father gave a rather lengthy explanation which even I had a hard time following. I doubt the son "got it", but I doubt there was a way to explain it to one so young. Yet he seemed satisfied with the answer. Why?

I think it's because he knew his father. He trusted him. He didn't have to understand. He just needed to know that his father did.

Kinda like us and God.

Someday we'll understand.
